The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a young man, Sulayman Badsha, in connection with a shooting incident during a student protest in Chittagong. Badsha, who is allegedly linked to the youth wing of the ruling party, was apprehended in Noakhali.
According to an RAB statement, Badsha fired a rifle resembling an AK-47 at a student gathering in the New Market area of Chittagong on August 4th. He was subsequently arrested based on a complaint filed by the father of an injured student.
The RAB reported that the shooting and bomb blasts during the protest caused the crowd to disperse. Another student, Imran Hossain, was attacked with a sharp weapon near the Old Railway Station.
After the incident, Badsha went into hiding in Noakhali. A joint team of RAB-7 and RAB-11 conducted a raid and arrested him.
