A youth league leader, Abu Musa, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with a shooting incident during a protest in Sirajganj. Musa was captured in Cox’s Bazar while attempting to flee the country.
The incident involved Musa firing upon a group of students and civilians who were protesting against inequality. A video of the incident went viral on social media, leading to a widespread public outcry.
Musa was a close associate of a former Member of Parliament, Jannat Ara Henny. He is accused of various criminal activities, including land grabbing, extortion, and tender rigging, which he allegedly carried out under the protection of the former MP.
Following the shooting incident, multiple murder cases were filed against Musa and several other individuals, including the former MP and her husband. Both the former MP and her husband were previously arrested in Moulvibazar.
The arrest of Abu Musa is seen as a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the violence that erupted during the protests in Sirajganj.
