Akash Mia, a 19-year-old sweet shop salesman, joined an anti-government protest in Narayanganj. When the police opened fire to disperse the crowd, Akash was shot in the leg. To avoid arrest, he hid and sought medical treatment at a private hospital before being transferred to a government hospital. Due to the severity of the injury, his leg had to be amputated above the knee.
Short Biography:
Akash, the eldest of seven siblings, worked at a sweet shop to support his family. His dream of working abroad was ruined by a gunshot injury that caused him to lose a leg. Despite his struggles, he hasn’t received any help from the government. A non-governmental organization has provided him with a prosthetic leg. Akash and his family are still struggling to cope with the situation and need support.
