Mr. Jamal, a rickshaw driver, was involved in helping injured protesters during the anti-discrimination movement. While rescuing a student, he was caught by the police and shot in the leg. He pleaded for his life, explaining his family situation, but the police shot him as he requested. Mr. Jamal’s rickshaw, his primary source of income, was also destroyed by the police. He is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment. The director of Dhaka Medical College has assured his family of full cooperation for his leg surgery.
