Abdul Barek

Abdul Barek, a 74-year-old man from Madan Upazila, Netrokona, lost an eye after being shot during recent anti-quota protests. While searching for his grandson, who was involved in the protests, Barek was hit by a stray bullet. The incident occurred on July 18. Due to his family’s poverty, they are struggling to afford the costly treatment.

Short Biography:
Barek is a former van driver and is now retired. His family is struggling to make ends meet. He is in dire need of financial assistance for his medical treatment.

Event Details:
During the height of the protests on July 18, Barek’s grandson, Mehedi, was involved in the demonstrations. When trying to locate his grandson, Barek was shot in the eye. Despite seeking medical treatment at Madan Upazila Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, his eye could not be saved.
