A 47-year-old man, Mohammad Bablu Mridha, who was injured in a shooting during the quota reform protests in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area, has died while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Bablu Mridha, a mason by profession, was shot on July 19th and succumbed to his injuries on Monday night. This brings the total number of reported deaths related to the quota reform protests to 761.

According to his son, Abu Talib, Bablu had gone to join the protests on July 19th and was shot while searching for his son. He was initially treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital before being transferred to a hospital in Pilkhana and finally to CMH, where he passed away.

The police have prepared an inquest report and sent Bablu’s body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
