University Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed said that the students involved in the massacre of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall of Dhaka University will be expelled and arrested. At this time, he expressed grief over the incident of the deceased. He gave the information on Thursday (September 19).
Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed said that a case of murder has been registered against unknown persons in this incident. It is being investigated whether there is negligence on the part of the hall administration. The Provost of the Hall did not visit the scene at night, the House Tutors did. He also commented that the situation was beyond their control.
Incidentally, on Wednesday (September 18) night, the students arrested a man named Tofajjal on suspicion of theft. Later, he was beaten several times in the guest room of the hall till 10 pm. At one stage, the students sat him in the canteen and fed him food. Then he was beaten again. At that time, when Togajjal fell ill due to beating, he was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night and the doctors on duty declared him dead.
It is to be noted that the Dhaka University administration has filed a case in Shahbag police station in this incident. At the same time, an investigation committee of 7 members has also been formed.
Shahbag Police Station has arrested 6 students in connection with the beating to death of an ‘unbalanced’ youth named Tofazzal on the suspicion of being a thief in Dhaka University’s (DU) Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall.
