The allegations against former Environment Minister Shahab Uddin are as follows:
1. Commission from Contractors:
– Shahab Uddin is accused of taking a 10% commission from contractors involved in the TK1,502 crore “SUFAL Project,” which was funded by the World Bank.
2. Embezzlement Through Fake Expenses:
– He is also accused of embezzling large sums of money by inflating expenses in various sectors, presenting false financial reports to siphon off funds.
3. Bribery for Transfers and Postings:
– Shahab Uddin allegedly accepted bribes ranging from Tk80-90 lakhs in exchange for facilitating the transfer and posting of forest officers, using his influence and position to manipulate these processes for financial gain.
These allegations are currently under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
