1. Accusation: Mamunur Rashid Kiran (Kiron), MP for Noakhali-3 and Awami League candidate, has been accused of embezzling Tk 3.20 crore from mosque funds.
2. Actions Taken: The Begumganj Upazila Awami League has recommended Kiran’s removal from the position of general secretary and has proposed the permanent expulsion of vice-president Samsul Haque Samsu. Both individuals have been declared undesirable by the party.
3. Background: Dr. ABM Zafar Ullah, President of Begumganj Upazila Awami League, announced the decision during a press conference on January 3. Anwar Hossain has been appointed as the acting general secretary.
4. Previous Allegations: Kiran was accused of mismanaging and embezzling funds while serving as president of the Choumuhoni Hawkers Market.
